Creative professional activity of the members of the Zhytomyr trio of folk instruments “Bolero”

Abstract

The presented scientific research provides comprehensive coverage of the creative professional activity of one of the brightest ensembles of the Zhytomyr region, representatives of academic domra, balalaika and bayan professional pre-higher musical education and philharmonic performing arts – the trio of folk instruments “Bolero”. In the course of the current action research, it was revealed that the trio of folk instruments “Bolero” is considered the hereditary successor of the folk instruments ensemble “Fantasia”. Taking into account the fact that the primary source of their main work was the pedagogical activity of the members of the “Bolero” trio in the institution of professional pre-higher music education, the first part of the study reflects their individual personal achievements and victories in the performance and pedagogical aspects. The creative professional image of Valentyna Nahirniak is presented in the embodiment of productive and effective pedagogical work at the Zhytomyr Music Professional College named after V. S. Kosenko in the aspect of creating her own domra school, which is represented by the quantitative and qualitative indicator of students-laureates with completed higher education at the National Music Academy of Ukraine. The creative personality of Honoured Artist of Ukraine Leonid Vyhovskyi is represented by a passion for solo and ensemble performing arts; active pedagogical activity in two institutions of professional pre-higher music education: Zhytomyr Cultural Education College and Zhytomyr Music College named after V. S. Kosenko; by the activities of administrative manager of educational work and leading specialist of art institutions under the Culture Department of the Zhytomyr Regional State Administration. The unsurpassed talent of the National Artist of Ukraine Viktor Hubanov is recognised in the context of solo performing achievements at the world level; the author’s methodological approach to teaching students; numerous student victories at performing competitions of various formations; the training of successors who have received higher academic music education in leading educational institutions of Ukraine and Europe; compositional creativity reflected in the bayan player’s sheet music publications. The ensemble aspect of the study of the creative professional activity of the trio of folk instruments “Bolero” reveals the musical and aesthetic repertoire preferences of the ensemble members; points to the practical experience of interpreting and arranging of musical works by the ensemble members, embodied in sheet music publications; establishes the analogy-similarity of the play by N. Shulman and the name of the trio of folk instruments in the language category “Bolero”; highlights various communications of the Zhytomyr ensemble’s concert activities; notes the phenomenal victory of the musicians in the Italian International Competition at a very early stage of the Zhytomyr ensemble’s functioning. In the conclusions of the study, the author differentiates between the creative ensemble and professional individual aspects of the activity of the members of the trio of folk instruments “Bolero” and identifies a significant integrative contribution of Valentyna Nahirniak, Leonid Vyhovskyi and Viktor Hubanov to the professional musical art of Ukraine.
