Theoretical and methodological aspects of research on choral art and music education in the context of digitalization

Abstract

The article analyzes the current state of choral and conducting training within the system of higher art education in Ukraine under conditions of active digitalization and martial law. It is established that the integration of innovative digital technologies – including artificial intelligence systems, virtual and augmented reality, multimedia complexes, and 3D modeling tools – significantly transforms the content and methods of artistic training for future choir conductors. Key areas of digitalization impact are identified: expanded access to national and global music resources, increased flexibility of learning trajectories, and the creation of conditions for individualized and continuous educational processes, particularly in distance or blended learning formats. At the institutional level, digitalization fosters the development of electronic libraries and the accumulation of audio, video, and textual materials categorized by genre, stylistic, and ethnocultural characteristics. At the same time, several challenges are highlighted, including the risk of reduced direct artistic interaction between teacher and student, decreased volume of live choral performance, technical limitations, and the need for a high level of digital literacy among educational participants. The methodological frame- work is based on a systems approach, incorporating theoretical methods (analysis, synthesis, and generalization of sources in music pedagogy and education digitalization), comparative analysis of traditional and digital learning formats, and elements of empirical methods (observation and practical teaching analysis). This approach has made it possible to identify the advantages and risks of digital transformation. The study emphasizes that among the key challenges are the decline in live performance, diminished artistic engagement, technical barriers, and insufficient digital competencies. It is substantiated that an effective combination of traditional and digital methods requires pedagogical balance. The purpose of the article is to identify the opportunities and limitations of distance and blended learning, as well as to propose ways of optimizing the use of digital tools in choral artistic training. The research results demonstrate that the digitalization of choral education is a strategic direction for the modernization of art schools, aimed at preserving and advancing Ukraine’s cultural and artistic traditions.
