The creativity of leading church conductors in the context of the protestant choir movement in the Kyiv region at the end of the 20th century and the first quarter of the 21st century

The study is devoted to highlighting the creative activities of leading conductors of Protes- tant churches in the Kyiv region at the end of the 20th century and the first quarter of the 21st century, namely: Oleksandr Kreshchuk, Vitalii Bolgar, Kostiantyn Lysak, and Karina Yev- tushok, who had a significant impact on the formation and development of the choral move- ment in Baptist and Adventist churches in the region. An analysis of their role in the develop- ment of liturgical and concert practice of church choirs has been carried out. The influence of these personalities on the inception and development of the choral festival movement is noted. Additionally, the touring activities of Ukrainian Protestant choirs under the direction of O. Kreshchuk, V. Bolgar, K. Lysak and K. Yevtushok in Ukraine and abroad are highlighted. The article also examines the role of these artists in the initial stage of the formation of music education in the Baptist and Adventist churches of the Kyiv region. In addition, the article analyzes O. Kreshchuk’s activities in the publishing sphere, which influenced the renewal and enrichment of the repertoire of church choirs. It was concluded that the activities of O. Kresh- chuk, V. Bolgar, K. Lysak, and K. Yevtushok became a key factor in shaping the professional level of Protestant church choirs in the Kyiv region. This not only improved the quality of choral music performed during church services, but also encouraged choirs to participate in non-church artistic events, influencing musicians belonging to Protestant denominations to become more aware of their artistic mission in nationwide cultural processes. The creativity of these artists revitalized concert and touring activities, as well as competitions and festivals in Protestant churches, which was reflected in the panorama of choral life in the Kyiv region.
