Cultural and artistic potential of the Podillian priestly family: scientific reflection on the memories of Nina Dray-Khmara

Abstract

The article is devoted to the history of one of the extensive Ukrainian families that formed in the priestly environment of the Ukrainian Podillia, which included several generations of the Dlugopolsky, Kyselevich, Yastrubetsky and Kravz-Tarnavsky. The purpose of the article is a culturological and art historical analysis of the memoirs of Nina Drai-Khmara, as well as the restoration of genealogical and friendly ties between representatives of the priestly community of Podillia and their descendants, in particular those who became an important link in the Shot Renaissance. The research methodology was determined by the methods of cultural and social anthropology, artistic genealogy, memoirs and musical regionalism. They allowed us to trace the cause-and-effect sequence of various phenomena, to correct or intro- duce new data into circulation and restore local history, as well as to restore as objectively as possible the general picture of the identification of the cultural and art-critical potential of the Ukrainian intelligentsia, which was formed in the priestly center of Podillia. It is proven that the “Meetings” allow us to understand how the moral, ethical and cultural “code of values” was formed in Ukrainian-centric priestly families. It was from such centers that part of the Ukrainian intelligentsia emerged, in particular, the composer Mykola Leontovych; his friend, the admin- istrator of the Dumka chapel, Hnat Yastrubetsky; actor and director of the Rivne Theater Anatol Demo-Dlugopolsky, and others. In turn, the Dlugopolsky family was joined by the poet and scientist Mykhailo Drai-Khmara; musicologist and director of the Institute named after M. Lysenko Mykola Grinchenko; historian, student of M. Hrushevsky, priest Mykhailo Karach- kivsky. Prospects for further scientific research are outlined, which consist in an in-depth study of the activities of the priests of Podillia and their contribution to Ukrainian culture, in particular musical culture.
