Development of musical and creative abilities of schoolchildren as a modern pedagogical problem

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of one of the most pressing issues in contemporary arts education – the development of musical and creative abilities of schoolchildren in the People’s Republic of China and Ukraine within the context of the ongoing formation of the post-infor- mational society and the intensification of cultural globalization worldwide. The publication presents the key results of the conducted research. The relevance of the highlighted issue is substantiated; various approaches to interpreting the concept of students’ musical-crea- tive abilities are examined. These abilities are considered both as an important pedagogical challenge and as an effective means of fostering among modern youth an adequate level of musical and aesthetic culture, which constitutes a significant component of their overall cultural competence. The article also outlines the results of pedagogical observations of the activities of general secondary education institutions in China and Ukraine with regard to improving the overall effectiveness of music education. The essence of the phenomenon of developing students’ musical-creative abilities is clarified, and the necessity of modernizing general music education in schools is emphasized. Particular attention is paid to the need for a substantial improvement in the professional training of future music teachers – students of arts-pedagogical education programs at relevant university faculties. It is noted that the complexity of this issue is exacerbated by the lack of a scientifically grounded approach to the formation of students’ musical-creative abilities in the context of contemporary educational reforms. Existing methodologies are often focused on traditional pedagogical models and fail to sufficiently account for the potential of innovative educational technologies, interdisciplinary connections, and the integration of various types of artistic activities. Consequently, there is an urgent need to develop innovative approaches, methods, and tools aimed at activating the creative potential of school students in the process of general music education. The article concludes by highlighting the significance and relevance of the issue for both countries within the realities of the post-informational society, and it outlines the prospects for further scientific research in this field.
