Abstract

In the modern world of sports, the use of doping is becoming an increasingly relevant topic, which generates a wide discussion and negative attitude. Addressing this problem requires collaboration between sports organizations, law enforcement agencies, the scientific community and other stakeholders to develop effective strategies for control, prevention and redress in the event of violations. Doping in sports is a widespread problem not only among elite athletes, but also in recreational sports. The article is based on the analysis of scientific and methodical literature. Although much attention is paid to the detection of doping in the scientific literature, there is little discussion of the harmful effects of doping on the competitiveness of athletes. Historically, the problem of doping began in the 19th century, but it spread significantly after World War II due to systemic team doping programs. Sanctions and consequences for athletes who violate anti-doping rules are also described. The article also examines the relationship between physical activity, health, and the use of prohibited drugs to improve performance in sports. There is a division of doping into different categories, such as substances and methods prohibited at all times and those prohibited only during competition. The prevalence of doping is determined by surveying or testing participants, with issues such as social considerations and sample collection limitations. Research results show a significant prevalence of doping among athletes, which must be effectively combated in order to maintain integrity and ethics in sports. Doping scandals affect the integrity of sports and raise doubts about sports justice. The discovery of doping problems of famous athletes often shocks the world public and violates the well-deserved authority of sports stars. The purpose of the article is to study the impact of doping on sports competitiveness. However, the impact of doping on sports competitiveness is not limited to negative consequences. The perceived pressure to achieve exceptional results and the struggle to win often lead athletes to choose non-traditional means of enhancing performance. This opens up wide opportunities for analyzing the impact of doping on sports achievements and prospects for combating this phenomenon.
