Abstract

In this article, an attempt is made to outline the issues related to the relevance of the systematization of actor roles in the “musical” genre and their identification with the psychological models proposed by K. G. Jung. Jungian archetypes are identified based on recurring symbols, themes, or motifs found in myths, stories, dreams, and cultural expressions. They are present in the collective unconscious of humanity and reflect fundamental human motivations, behavior, and personality traits. The identification of psychological archetypes of acting roles will add authenticity to the acting game and connection with the audience on a deeper level of understanding through the creation of impressive character images and the dramaturgy of the musical-stage work enriched with new facets. The relationship between Jungian archetypes and acting roles can become very relevant today, as the audience needs to observe the development of deep psychological crises and personality transformations on stage. Well-developed characters bring to the attention of the viewer all the complexities of human nature, which face internal and external conflicts during the unfolding of the dramatic action. It evokes a range of emotions from empathy to thinking about oneself, the surrounding world and other people’s feelings, and makes it possible to acquire additional life experience by rethinking a series of events during two hours. Such experience also helps to explore internal psychological problems from different angles, to get a different point of view on solving the problem, to get inspiration and emotional relief. By introducing archetypal elements into the dramaturgy of a musical, it is possible to effectively create a deeply resonant emotional experience for the audience and significantly deepen and diversify acting techniques.
